2018 – THE YEAR OF MINIMALISM AND LOFT
Today, designers prefer to combine several styles at once. For example, minimalism goes nicely with high-tech and high-tech is a perfect match for loft style. And of course, each of them can make a harmonic composition with other styles. As a result, we have a perfect union.
Today, we’ll talk a bit about Loft style.
Loft style comes from New York industrial districts of the 40s of the XX century. Another leap in prices for land in the city centre left no other choice for the owners of industrial enterprises but to leave the premises and move their business to the suburbs. Abandoned factory buildings caught the Bohemia eye, attracted by functional characteristics (high ceilings, good lighting) and low price, compared to those for traditional apartments. After coming a long way from workshops to stylish apartments, lofts landed at the peak of fashion by 1950s. This is where the artistic life of New York was concentrated. Trendy artists opened their galleries and studios in lofts.
This is how an original idea for home decoration became a fashion trend. Today, loft is an individual interior style that is not limited by factory buildings.
